Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: Manzoor, Imran dismiss WAPDA for 90

WAPDA reply back by bundling out SNGPL on 133

KARACHI: The shifting of the venue to a new ground did not favour either Wapda or SNGPL as Manzoor Khan and Imran Khalid bowled aggressively to dismiss Wapda on 90, while Khalid Usman’s attack dismissed SNGPL on 133 on the opening day of the final round at the South End Club cricket ground in Karachi yesterday.

Wapda, who elected to bat first, were bowled out for 90 as Manzoor took 5-22, while Imran took 4-17 to end WAPDA’s innings. SNGPL, on the other hand, were dismissed for 133 with Usman taking 6-42 and Muhammad Irfan taking 3-23.

At the National Stadium of Karachi, Zohaib Ahmed took five wickets to restrict Lahore Lions on 149 in their first innings. Islamabad Leopards will be looking to build a lead on day two as they ended on 149-6 at stumps.

In the match at the UBL stadium in Karachi, Amar Hassan scored 90 runs off 120 balls to guide UBL to 254, as Kashif Dawood claimed a seven-wicket haul. At the end of play, ZTBL were 12-0 after five overs – trailing by 242.

NBP, on its home ground, posted a total of 249 against PQA in their first innings with the help of Akbar Rehman’s 72 and Bilal Qureshi’s 62, while Tabish Nawab took five wickets. At the end of play PQA were trailing by 212 runs behind at 37-3.

Meanwhile, at the Multan Cricket ground, an unbeaten knock of 70 by Aimal Khan helped Peshawar Panthers post 307-7 as Akbar Badshah scored 76.
