Politics on campus

Letter December 08, 2014
I request the authorities concerned to take serious action to do away with this culture

KARACHI: There was a time when a vast majority of students from all parts of Pakistan used to come to study at the University of Karachi, which was reputed to be one of the best universities in the country.

The university had a great reputation among the business community and produced and nurtured an array of talented graduates every year. However, in recent years, the entire system of the university has been affected by appalling local politics. A number of small and large political student organisations are operating in every department of the university. Clashes, strikes and political activities have become part of the academic calendar. I request the authorities concerned to take serious action to do away with this culture.
