We can make it into the top 20, says Aamir Atlas

Pakistan squash player believes more exposure will help them reach target

KARACHI: As Pakistani players continue to move upward in the Professional Squash Association (PSA) rankings, former world number 14 Aamir Atlas Khan is hopeful that 2015 will also prove to be a good year for the country.

According to the 24-year-old, who recently played in the semi-finals of the Dubai Squash Cup along with Nasir Iqbal and has jumped 12 places to 62^nd, if the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) continues to support the players financially, then there is no reason why they cannot finish in the top 20.

“If we have the funds to appear in more PSA tournaments, we can definitely improve our rankings,” Aamir told The Express Tribune.

“I hope they continue giving us exposure so that I can regain my status as a top 20 player among the world and then improve from there. I am playing in another tournament this month in Malaysia and will try my best to succeed there.”

Meanwhile, Nasir Iqbal has jumped up a spot to 43^rd after playing the second round of the World Open.

Farhan Zaman jumped 10 spots and Aamir’s sibling Danish ascended five places to take claims on the 59^th and 66^th spots respectively.

Another senior player and former world number 16, Farhan Mehboob, improved by 23 places and is now 81st in the world.
