FAISALABAD: Bhowana police on Tuesday registered a gang rape case four months after the alleged offence.

Police said on July 24, 2014, two unidentified gunmen had forced their way into Nazeer Ahmad’s house at Jamiaabad, Bhowana. After locking Ahmad’s family in a room, they had collected cash, jewellery and valuables from the house. They had also raped Nazeer’s 15-year-old daughter. The girl’s brother, 21-year-old Iftikhar, died from the shock.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Nazeer said Bhowana police had refused to register a case when he had contacted them. “After I submitted an application to Bhowana Cirlce DSP, an inquiry was undertaken. The DSP then ordered the police to register the case,” he said.

Nazeer said that unidentified men were also threatening him with dire consequences and asking him to take back the complaint.

The Bhowana SHO said that police had not received a formal complaint about the robbery and rape earlier. “That was why now case was registered. Now that a formal complaint has been lodged, we have registered a case,” he said.
