RAWALPINDI:

The Rawal Town’s Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) has launched an anti-encroachment drive in its jurisdiction. Teams confiscated truckloads of goods of encroachers and fined several shopkeepers last week.

According to a TMA official, teams conducted raids at several markets in Ganj Mandi, Raja Bazaar, Sabzi Mandi, College Road, Saidpur Road, Sadiqabad, Murree Road and other adjoining roads.

He said the ongoing anti-encroachment operation is aimed at clearing the city’s roads and creating space for traffic, particularly for the metro bus construction work.

He said several roads, including Liaquat Bagh to Fawara Chowk, Raja Bazar to Dinghi Khoi, Circular Road to Banni Chowk and Jamia Mosque Road, Naz Cinema Chowk to Amarpura Chowk, Cha Sultan to Gai Chowk, Chaklala Road, Saidpur Road and Dhoke Khaba roads have been cleared of encroachments during the ongoing drive.

He said teams are conducting daily raids on these roads to ensure that the encroachments do not return.

The regulation officer said teams are also visiting the main markets and roads, adding that the operation would continue and encroachers’ goods would be confiscated apart from issuing them with fines.
