Japanese park: Play land may get new attractions soon

Japanese agency will install amusement facilities worth Rs83.2 million in Children Play Land.

ISLAMABAD: Japan has pledged to increase entertainment attractions to  a children play land in the federal capital.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) in collaboration with the Economic Affairs Division is pursuing a deal with the Japanese International Cooperation System (JICS) to implement the project, the civic agency’s member environment Mustafain Kazmi told a meeting at the authority’s headquarters on Sunday.

Kazmi said that the civic agency was working on a plan to upgrade and improve amusement facilities at the park. In this regard, the JICS will provide nine new play facilities worth Rs83.2 million in the park that was constructed and gifted by the Japanese government in 1985.

Kazmi said that under the project, 21 existing amusement facilities in the park will also be renovated.

He said that all the play facilities and equipment will be prepared in Japan before being installed in the park.

JICS will also provide training to the park staff for operating and maintaining the play facilities.

CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal, who chaired the meeting, said that sufficient funds have been allocated in current budget for establishing new parks besides up-gradating and maintaining the existing ones.
