Street cricket: Court moves against street cricketers

LAHORE: An additional district and sessions judge sought comments from the Sanda SHO on Thursday on a petition seeking registration of a case against some boys in his neighbourhood who played cricket in the street. The petitioner claimed that the ball they were playing with had twice smashed the windows of his house. Muhammad Zaman, the petitioner, said that he had warned the boys not to play in the street several times and each time they had promised to stop. He said a few days ago they had broken another window of his house. He said, “This time I visited the Sanda police and complained to them but the SHO did not register a case.” Zaman requested the court to direct police to register a case against Muhammad Azhar, Zeeshan and Imran among other boys who played cricket in his street.
