PESHAWAR:

The provincial government has taken landmark steps to promote sport activities for the youth of the province, said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf K-P Spokesperson and MNA Ayesha Gulalai on Thursday.

In a statement issued from the party’s provincial secretariat, Gulalai said these steps include arranging provincial and inter-regional tournaments, forming coaching academies for boys and girls for various sports and organising festivals in Abbottabad for people with disabilities.

The provincial government has also allocated a huge sum of money for sports grounds and stadiums, the statement added. “Rs4 million has been allocated for construction of sports grounds in 75 tehsils, Rs300 million for the renovation of existing stadiums and Rs40 million to promote sports activities,” the statement quoted Gulalai as saying. Moreover, an allocation of Rs150 million has been made to establish academies under the Talented Youth Scheme to train the youth in different sports, while Rs25 million has been reserved to buy sports equipment for boys and girls.

“It is our mission to involve the youth of the province in healthy and recreational activities so they can contribute to the development of the society,” said Gulalai.
