QUETTA: A new case of poliovirus was detected in a nine-month-old boy in Qila Saifullah district of Balochistan on Thursday, taking the number of total polio cases in the province to 15.

This is the first ever poliovirus case reported from the district.

Officials confirmed the poliovirus in the boy named Hikmatullah, despite being given three doses during the routine immunisation campaign in the district.
