LAHORE: Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) chairman Khawaja Ahmad Hassan on Monday reviewed progress on a disposal site (Lahore Sanitary Landfill Project) that is being constructed at Lakhodair. He was accompanied by Managing Director Khalid Majeed and Engineer Maruf Ecke who briefed him on the work being done at the construction site. The site engineers at Lakhodair landfill told Hassan that one of the two cells would be completed by the end of this December and the second cell will become operational by March next year. The disposal site will help the LWMC staff handle around 3,000 tonnes of waste each day in an environment-friendly manner. Hassan suggested a plantation around the site. The LWMC spokesperson said that the project included six cells. It will cost around Rs4 billion.
