Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: Tigers hunt down Rawalpindi Rams for 137

Hosts’ batsmen also struggle and end day at 25-3

KARACHI: A total of 13 wickets fell on the opening day of the eighth round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold match between Rawalpindi Rams and Multan Tigers. Batting first, Rams were bundled out for 137 runs as Majid Ali took five. Tigers’ batsmen also found the going tough as they were 25-3 at stumps.

Muhammad Irfan’s 99 helped Islamabad Leopards post 230-4 on day one against Peshawar Panthers.

Umer Waheed scored an unbeaten 118 and Muhammad Nawaz contributed 98 as NBP ended their opening day against UBL at 281-3.

SNGPL had to grind hard for their 214-6 against ZTBL with Khurram Shahzad’s 73 the highlight.

Port Qasim reached 259-7 against Wapda. Muhammad Sami and Daniyal Hasan’s 142-run partnership for the seventh wicket bailed them out after they slumped to 93-6.

Karachi Dolphins could only make 132 against Lahore Lions, who were 142-4 in reply at stumps.

 

Silver league quarter-final

The first quarter-final of the Silver league may finish in the opening session of the third day as PIA ended day two needing only 37 more runs to win against Bahawalpur Stags.

Stags were rolled over for only 96 runs in their second innings after being bundled out for 137 in their first. PIA also endured a torrid first innings and were dismissed for only 104.

Brothers Faisal and Fahad Iqbal were unbeaten on 28 and 23 respectively.

HBL have a big fight at their hands as Hyderabad Hawks took a 138-run lead against them on day two of their quarter-final tie.

After being routed for 128 in their first innings, the bankers ended day two at 86-3, still needing another 52 runs to make Hawks bat again.

A fine unbeaten 135 by Usman Salahuddin helped State Bank amass a 162-run lead over their quarter-final opponents KRL as they ended day two at 338-8.

SSGC strengthened their position against PTV by taking a 110-run lead. SSGC were 66-0 loss at stumps after taking a a crucial 44-run lead in the first innings.
