Red wedding: Two killed, 16 injured in shoot-out

CHARSADDA: Two people were killed and 16 others including five minors were injured in a shoot-out between two rival groups during a marriage ceremony in Khan Mahi area of Charsadda on Sunday. An official of Khan Mahi police told The Express Tribune the marriage ceremony of Taimur was under way in Azgai village when members of Wasifullah and Samiullah’s groups opened fire at each other. Wasifullah was killed in the crossfire, while 17 others present at the function were injured. Locals rushed them to DHQ Hospital from where they were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar. Later, another person succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment. The official added no member of either group has registered a case with the police, but a search operation is under way to nab the culprits.
