Immigration authorities in London imposed a fine of 2,000 pounds on Pakistan International Airlines after two of its air hostesses were found travelling with expired passports, Express News reported on Sunday.
The air hostesses travelled on PK-785 and arrived in London from Islamabad where they were held by the immigration authorities.
Issuing a warning, the London immigration authorities directed the national carrier to abide by the rules in the future.
Earlier in September, customs authorities had detained PIA crew members – returning from London - after they recovered 21 smartphones and 5,000 British pounds from their possession.

@Pareshan aatma: Exactly right. Pakistan Immigration should have checked their passports for UK validity. They do that to everyone else. Maybe the two wanted to disappear from the airport.
It is at least tolerable compare to some air india pilots flying with expired license.
How could they leave pakistan. In this day and age pakistan still rejects checks and balances!
Fine should be collected from air hostesses & officer responsible to check the passport must be removed immediately
Why am I not surprised at this. Forget the crew, HR department must be responsible for crew's travel documents including visas. They should have ensured passports were valid. And the crew bringing back 21 smartphones, that's what the crews have always done. One smartphone goes to customs chap and the rest get imported into country scot free. The government should implement a law that requires telecom companies to require people to prove their phones are all duty paid, unless older than 2-3 years. Otherwise the IMEI for the phone is blocked from network
The crew members must have been illeterate not to have noticed the expiry date on their passports. Viva PIA.
Does it need a rocket science to address these issues which causes, heavy fines and shame for the national airline? But when cronies are appointed on professional posts, such incident are bound to occur. Brother of (Senator) Mushahid Ullah has been appointed at one of the highest post in PIA on the qualification of “loyalty” to Sharif dynasty. Shame is too little word for these thugs.
Niice! Awesome collection!
wow... just wow!
who is at fault.. no one will be questioned. This fine should be recovered from the these two hostess salaries, not from the pockets of Nation.
