ISLAMABAD: The third batch of F-16 C/D Block 52, comprising six fighter aircraft, arrived at the Pakistan Air Force Base, Shahbaz, in Jacobabad district of Balochistan on Saturday.

According to the PAF, US Vice Admiral LeFever handed over the aircraft on behalf of the US government to Air Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Vice Chief of the Air Staff PAF.

Pakistan attaches great significance to its air defence needs.  And acquisition of these aircraft are part of the PAF plans to modernise and enhance its Air Defence capabilities.

Pakistan had signed a contract with the US government back in 2005-06 for acquisition of 18 F-16 C/D Block 52 aircraft.

Under this arrangement, the PAF would receive these state-of-the-art aircraft from the US government in staggered batches.

In this connection, six similar aircraft have already arrived in Pakistan earlier this year.

The deliveries of the remaining six aircraft would be completed by next month.

The F-16 C/D Block 52 aircraft is a high tech fighter aircraft equipped with state-of-the-art avionics suite and latest weapons having Night Precision Attack capability.

Akhtar Ali Kureshi Advocate | 13 years ago | Reply I don't understand where other Jet have gone as earlier we purchased lot of F 16 from USA but very few are left behind and USA has given us our old order which were withheld by USA and rest of the F16 have crashed during the training and we suffered huge loss.
Anoop | 13 years ago | Reply With over $50 as debt and around $16 dollars as Foreign exchange, that too thanks to the aid donors, is this a smart move? F-16s are old-school now, even the US doesn't use them, they use the F-18a Hornets.
