Near-death incident: Doctor shot, injured in robbery

Family’s statement was recorded at the hospital but a case could not be lodged till the filing of this report

A doctor was shot and injured on Friday when he put up a fight against a man who was robbing his mother-in-law outside the clinic located in Sector I-8/4.


The victim, identified as Doctor Nadeem Shaikh, was shot in his thigh when he intervened in the robbery after hearing the hue and cry of his mother in-law, said a family member. She added that the robber was snatching jewellery from the woman at gunpoint in front of Shaikh’s clinic and escaped on a motorcycle after the incident.


Following the shooting, the victim was rushed to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences where he was operated on and his condition was said to be stable.


The family’s statement to the police was recorded at the hospital but a case could not be lodged till the filing of this report. The police said that the family was reluctant to come forward for registering a case.
