GHALLANAI:

Pakistan Red Crescent Society’s (PRCS) Mohmand chapter commemorated First Aid Day, celebrated internationally on September 13, at Government College of Management Sciences (GCMS) in Ghallanai on Thursday.

Around 150 participants including journalists, volunteers, students and teachers from different colleges attended the session based on this year’s theme, ‘Be a hero. Save lives.’

Speaking on the occasion, Additional Political Agent of Mohmand Agency, Abdul Hameed Jan urged PRCS to also launch first aid training programmes for middle and high school students of Mohmand Agency.

PRCS agency secretary Fauzee Khan said first aid is not a medical subject, but an essential life-saving measure which every citizen should be aware of. He added the first five to eight minutes for an injured person are crucial and first aid can actually save the person’s life before the arrival of medical aid.

Khan said PRCS is conducting first aid training programmes in the entire agency in a bid to achieve the objective of creating a ‘first-aider in every home’. GCMS, Ghallanai Principal Sahib Gul hailed the efforts of PRCS on the much neglected front.
