Dangerous road: Five die in two Quetta Road accidents

Five people were killed and 28 others were injured in two accidents on Quetta Road on Tuesday and Wednesday.


Rescue 1122 officials said a Barkhan-bound bus and a truck collided on Wednesday. The bus hit the truck that had been parked on the road near Mitha Khu. They said the bus had left Dera Ghazi Khan at 5.30am and rammed into a truck due to poor visibility caused by fog.

They said four people died on the spot and 18 others were injured. Rescue 1122 officials said the accident was so severe that the pulling injured and the dead out required cutting the body of the van

They said Pir Bakhsh, a resident of Gidai Shamali, Ahmad Khan and Faiz Muhammad of Loralai and five-year-old Saifullah from Barkhan died in the accident.

The driver of the bus, Noor Khan, fled from the spot.

One of the more seriously injured was taken to Nishtar Hospital in Multan. Saddar police has registered a case.

On Tuesday, a student was killed and 10 others were injured in an accident on the same road.

A van was taking students back to school from an educational trip to a tractor manufacturing factory when a tyre burst and the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The injured were taken to the trauma centre of the district headquarters hospital.

Zubair Aslam died at the hospital. The rest were discharged with minor injuries.

The children were provided an alternative bus and were sent home by the school administration.
