Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: Panthers assert dominance over Lahore Lions

The visitors ended the day with a 104-run first-innings lead

KARACHI: Jamaluddin and Akbar Badshah batted well for the Peshawar Panthers to score 325-9 on day two of their Quaid-e-Azam Gold league fixture against Lahore Lions at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Jamal and Badshah scored 112 and 101 respectively, while Bilal took four wickets for Lions as Panthers ended the day with a 104-run first-innings lead.

In another match, Karachi Dolphins scored 450 in their first innings against Multan Tigers.

The hosts, who were bowled out for just 46 in their first innings, were at 177-7 in their second innings as Mir Hamza, Adeel Mailk, and Shahzaib Ahmed took two wickets each to leave Dolphins on the brink of victory.

Meanwhile, in reply to SNGPL’s 289, UBL were 181-5 in their match.

Sami Aslam scored 162 as NBP made 399 in their first innings against Wapda, who were batting at 121-3 at the end of the day’s play.

PQA made 508 at the National Ground in Islamabad, while ZTBL were batting at 46-0 at stumps.

For Islamabad Leopards, Imdad Wasim and Sarmad Bhatti were batting on 53 and 66 respectively as they ended the day on 189-6 against the Rawalpindi Rams.

 

Silver edition

PIA, who booked their place in the quarters, declared on 468-6 in their first innings with the aid of a strong unbeaten partnership of 244 runs between Shahryar Ghani and Shoaib Khan who scored 152 and 114 respectively. PTV, who scored 133 in their first innings, were batting at 34-1 in a bid to save the game.

In another match, Bahawalpur Stags were bowled out on 198 as Sadaqat Ali took seven wickets for Faisalabad Wolves, who were 98-4 in their second innings.

Azizur Rehman and Ikramullah Khan took four wickets apiece to bowl out Sialkot Stallions on 208, while Abbottabad Falcons were 70-8 in reply as Waqas Ahmed took six wickets.

Babar Azam scored 92 runs to take SBP’s first innings score to 248-4 against SSGC.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad Hawks were 130-4 in their first innings after Lahore Eagles scored 324.

At the NBP Stadium, the Quetta Bears were batting on 256-8 with Arun Lal unbeaten on 73 against Karachi Zebras.
