Blast in Khuzdar kills one, injures 13

Police official says unidentified persons hurled a hand grenade inside a van station

QUETTA: One person was killed and 13 others were wounded in a hand grenade attack at an intra-district passenger van station in Arbab Complex in Khuzdar on Sunday.

According to an official of the Khuzdar Police Station, unidentified persons hurled a hand grenade inside the terminal.

Rescue workers and passersby rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Civil Hospital Khuzdar, where one of the injured identified as Abdul Wahab passed away upon arrival.

Security forces and police reached the site of the incident and cordoned off the area.

“The target was a public place as there was no well-known personality who could be an apparent target present there,” Abdul Majeed Marri, SHO Khuzdar police station, told The Express Tribune.

Marri quoting an injured person saying, “An object wrapped in a plastic bag fell in the area which exploded with a big bang.”

Police have started investigations into the incident. All the victims are residents of different areas of Khuzdar.

There have been no claims of responsibility for the attack.

Khuzdar is one of the troubled districts in Balochishtan which has been facing serious law and order problems for the last several years.
