Road accidents: Two dead in separate incidents in AJK

One victim,16-year-old boy, crushes to death by a speeding truck in Islamgarh

At least two people were killed in different incidents in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Friday.


According to the police, a 16-year-old boy Shoaib Ahmad was crushed to death by a speeding truck in Islamgarh some 240 kilometers away from the capital city of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). The police registered the case against the truck driver who managed to escape the scene after the incident.

Residents have demanded that the authorities arrest the  truck driver. They also demanded strict implementation of road safety regulations and action against violators.

They said several roads were in need of repairs in the district.

In a separate incident, driver of a van died of a cardiac arrest in the same area. According to the police, a van was on its way to Bhimber from Kotli with the local cricket team on board.

As the van reached the limits of Islamgarh district the driver Muhammad Ishfaq, resident of Kotli complained of chest pain and was soon after rushed to a nearby Rural Health Centre Islamgarh where doctors pronounced him dead. The body of the deceased was sent back to his native area in Kotli where he was laid to rest later in the day.
