Two girls kidnapped in separate incidents, allegedly for marriage

PESHAWAR: The Chamkani police lodged an FIR against a man who divorced his wife on the second day of his marriage on Friday, claiming she was pregnant.

Muhammad Ismail, the father of 18-year-old Salma, lodged an FIR with the police, stating Raees and his daughter got married, but the husband divorced her on the second day. He told the police that a doctor’s report confirmed Salma was not pregnant. According to the FIR, Ismail said Raees and his family were demanding compensation to cover the wedding expenses and threatened him of dire consequences if they did not oblige.

Meanwhile, from Mariamzai in Mattani, 16-year-old Sonia was allegedly kidnapped by Shakil Ahmad with the help of his two brothers Javed and Jamil as well as his mother. Police lodged an FIR against the suspects on the complaint of Sonia’s father, Anwarul Haq.

In a similar case, Sawal, a resident of Tehkal, allegedly kidnapped the 24-year-old daughter of his cousin Javed Akhtar for marriage.
