MANSEHRA:

Like other parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 10th of Muharram concluded peacefully in Hazara Division on Tuesday.

Alam-o-zuljinah processions taken out from the central imambargah in Mansehra, Imambargah Paras in Kaghan, Imambargah Imam Mehdi in Abbottabad and Imambargah Mankray in Haripur culminated at their respective destinations.

Speakers highlighted the sacrifices of Imam Hussain and his companions, urging people to understand the spirit of Karbala and follow it.

They also urged Muslims to unite against anti-Islam forces. Leaders of the Shia community assured the government of their support in the fight against terrorism and praised the sacrifices of Pakistani civilians and security forces.

Heavy contingents of the elite force, reserves and regular police were deployed for the security of mourners. Entry and exit points as well as roads leading to the processions were completely sealed off.

Moreover, law-enforcement agencies installed walkthrough gates at entry points of processions and imambargahs to screen the participants.

To avoid security lapses, sniffer dogs and bomb disposal units cleared the procession routes while Afghan refugees remained confined to their camps on Ashura day. Dr Hasnain Raza Turabi, Allama Sibtain Shah Rizvi, Allama Zaheer Shah and Asad Abbas were among the prominent speakers.
