TCF wins international award

The Citizens Foundation was the only organisation representing Pakistan among 89 countries.

KARACHI: The Citizens Foundation (TCF) has been selected as one of the six laureates for WISE (World Innovation Summit for Education) Awards 2010, said a press release on Tuesday. Among hundreds of applicants from 89 countries that were reviewed by the WISE jury, TCF was the only participant representing Pakistan.

The ceremony will be held in Doha, Qatar between December 7 and 9 where plenary sessions will be organised to specifically address the crucial issue of how 21st century education should be funded.

Mushtaq K Chappra, chairman and founding director, TCF, will be one of the speakers. Other speakers include Mike Baker (moderator), education journalist, broadcaster and author, UK, Irina Bokova, director-general, UNESCO (Paris), Dr Scott Cowen, president, Tulane University, US.

Initiated in 2009, by Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development launched WISE as international forum and collaborative platform to recognize, share and drive change in education.

This year WISE awards have rewarded initiatives under the theme of Transforming Education: Investment, Innovation and Inclusion. press release
