ISLAMABAD : Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) federal ministers on Saturday urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to allow drastic reforms within their ministries which would depoliticise them.

JUI-F, which is an allied partner of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) led government, said their ministers were unable to perform their duties smoothly.

Official sources said that Federal Minister for Housing and Works Akram Khan Durrani and Minister for State of Postal Services Abdul Ghafor Haidri on Saturday called on PM Nawaz Sharif and discussed issues related to their ministries.

Durrani said that the Housing Ministry had become controversial due to politcisation which was allowing anyone to approach the ministry for residence while bypassing rules.

JUI-F’s spokesperson Jan Achakzai told The Express Tribune said that both ministers took the premier into confidence about taking major steps in their ministries.

He added that the JUI-F delegation also raised the the attack on party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and the laxity in starting a probe. Terming the attack as state failure, they complained that the Interior Minister had not even bothered to issue any statement condemning the attack.

The PM assured them of an investigation at all governmental and state institutional levels, and to punish those involved. The PM also agreed to improve security for Rehman.
