Operation Khyber-I: 8 soldiers, 21 militants killed in fresh clashes near Bara

Security forces carried out a clearance operation in Qamar neighbourhood near Bara in Khyber Agency

PESHAWAR: Eight soldiers and 21 militants were killed during a clearance operation in Qamar neighbourhood near Bara in Khyber Agency on Wednesday evening, officials said.

"Eight soldiers were killed during fierce fighting and exchange of fire with terrorists," a Peshawar based security official told AFP.

Another security official also confirmed the incident.

Later, Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Shareef and a number of senior officers attended the funeral prayers of the soldiers killed in clashes.



Security forces have started a military operation in Bara tehsil, Khyber Agency along with Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan.
