Delegation departs for China

Members of parliament will visit multiple cities.

ISLAMABAD: A parliamentary delegation, led by Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Finance, Economic Affairs, Revenues and Privatisation, Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan left here on Wednesday for Kashgar, China on a 10-day visit in an effort to further enhance economic cooperation between the two nations.

The delegation will visit the Kashgar Special Economic Zone, and hold a meeting with the Kashgar government. During its stay in Urumqi – the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China – the delegation comprising of members of the national assembly and media would meet representatives of the government.



In Beijing, the delegation will hold separate meetings with Ministry of China, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Liu Jianchao, leader of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs and attend the seminar on Afghanistan Situation and counter-terrorism.

During the stay in Shanghai, the delegation will visit the Pudong Economic Zone and Shaghai Free Trade Zone and hold meetings with the Shanghai government.

Speaking at a reception hosted for the parliamentary delegation, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Sun Weidong said that the visit of the parliamentary delegation will enhance people to people contact and provide an opportunity to witness latest development in the Chinese cities.

Weidong said his country wants to develop friendly relations with all neighbouring countries. “China has close cultural connections and historical bonds with Pakistan.” He added that the visit will further strengthen all time-tested friendships.
