SWABI: Members of the Pakistan Flour Mills Association’s (PFMA) Swabi chapter on Saturday demanded that wheat quotas should be introduced with immediate effect. Moreover, they pressed the federal government to set a price of Rs2,400 for every sack. Speaking to journalists, Siraj Bahadur, President of the Swabi Flour Mills Association, said flour mills are facing a similar crisis to the one they faced in 1998 and 1999. According to Bahadur, during the previous government, the wheat quota was given to flour mills by September. However, he said October is coming to an end and no flour mill owner has received the quota yet. Bahadur claimed some elements are trying to destroy the flour mills industry in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and urged the federal government to take steps to thwart these conspiracies.
