Action at the airport: Two held for drug possession

suspect confesses ingestion of heroin-filled capsules

RAWALPINDI:


The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) seized 6.8 kilograms of heroin from the possession of a passenger at Benazir Bhutto International Airport on Thursday.


An ANF official said that acting on a tip-off, the force’s team at the airport intercepted a passenger, identified as Muhammad Arshad, a resident of Gujrat.


During a search of his luggage, the team recovered around 6.8 kilograms of heroin from secret compartments.


The accused was planning to take off for Spain via Dubai. The team also nabbed another passenger from the airport, identified as Mushtaq Ahmed for suspicious acts.


During initial interrogation, the suspect confessed to having ingested heroin-filled capsules in his stomach. The suspect has been shifted to a hospital for recovery of the capsules.
