Eradicating polio

Letter October 22, 2014
It is hoped that govt will continue making wholesome policies for all issues of national interest and public welfare

LAHORE: As reported in the media, the prime minister has decided to give immediate attention to the polio eradication initiative. Few decisions have been taken in this regard. The first of the decisions is that polio vaccination in the security risk areas will be carried out with the help of army personnel so that vaccinators can be protected while completing their task.

Moreover, a special cabinet committee will be set up to strategise for making the polio eradication initiative more effective and result-oriented. It has also been decided that meetings of the National Polio Task Force will be called every three months instead of the previous practice of calling it annually. This will ensure an effective and timely policy and action by the task force so that this menace is eradicated from Pakistan forever. It is hoped that the government will continue making wholesome policies for all issues of national interest and public welfare.
