PESHAWAR:

Leaves of all Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Rescue 1122 staffers have been cancelled ahead of Muharram, said Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmad Faizi on Monday.

According to Faizi, a meeting was held at the service’s provincial headquarters in Peshawar to discuss key areas where ambulances would be deployed along the Muharram procession routes. Aside from Peshawar, the emergency rescue service will also be providing services in Mardan, Kohat and Hangu districts, said Faizi.

The meeting was chaired by Rescue 1122 Director General Dr Asad Ali Khan and was attended by representatives of Al-Khidmat and Edhi welfare foundations.

DG Khan emphasised all welfare organisations and departments should work together to ensure efficient coordination during the processions. He added Rescue 1122 was fully prepared to deal with any emergency situation in Peshawar and its adjoining districts.

Moreover, the district administration has established a command post at Kohati Gate where Rescue 1122 teams will be available round the clock. Ambulances would also move with processions taken out from various imambargahs.
