LAHORE: Of a total of 83 members of the Punjab Assembly who had been suspended for failing to declare their assets, the memberships of 26 have been reinstated.

Members are meant to submit a declaration of assets to the Election Commission of Pakistan -- an annual practice.

However, this year, 83 MPAs failed to do so, resulting in their suspension.

A session of the Punjab Assembly which was supposed to start at 3pm on Monday, faced delays and by 4pm, only 26 members were given clearance, while 57 other members still remain suspended.

According to the Punjab Assembly, the process is on-going and the list will be updated accordingly.

It would have been useful and relevant if you had reported the grounds for their being reinstated in this piece.
