LAHORE: More than a dozen Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) activists on Friday attacked a car carrying a female faculty member of the Institute of Communication Studies, a Punjab University (PU) spokesman said. The IJT, however, denied the charge.

The spokesman said the IJT activists stopped the car carrying Ayesha Hakeem, daughter-in-law of former PU registrar Prof Muhammad Amin Athar, and Awais, an employee of the Forensic Science Agency, near hostel number 14 at 7.45am.

They asked her to step out of the car but she refused. He said they then attacked the car with hockey sticks and clubs.

“The car’s front screen, hood and a windowpane were damaged. Hakeem escaped unhurt. Three IJT activists then chased her on a motorcycle,” the spokesman said.

Vice Chancellor Prof Mujahid Kamran condemned the alleged attack.

“It seems the Jamiat has become irredeemable,” he said in a statement.

IJT PU nazim Abdul Muqeet said the PU administration had levelled a baseless allegation to gain sympathy for giving an extension to Amin Athar who had retired a few days ago. He said Awais might have been attacked for his association with an intelligence agency.

“The PU administration blames us for every bad happening at the university,” he said.

Thats because for decades everything bad that happens has your and your parent party's involvement. You are the shame of this country, revelling mass murderers and women beaters. If you people had any shame you would not show your faces in public ever again.
