LAHORE:

District Coordination Officer (DCO) Muhammad Usman said on Friday the city government would mobilise all-available resources to elevate standards of education.

The DCO was chairing a meeting of the District Review Committee at Town Hall. The district monitoring officer, the education executive district officer and officers from the buildings and education departments attended the meeting.

He said inquiries against teachers who remained absent from duty should be completed in 15 days. He said that instead of deduction salaries of absent teachers, their annual increment should be slashed.

Usman learnt that two schools in the district had no toilets and electricity connections. He ordered that the missing facilities be provided there immediately.

He said funds reserved for upgrading schools, provision of IT labs and renovation and construction of school buildings should be spent until December 31.
