KARACHI: The quartet of Ismail Raul, Abbas Shoukat, Raees Khan and Israr Ahmed moved into the main qualifying round of the CAS International Squash Championship after winning the pre-qualifying round of matches yesterday.

Abbas had little trouble beating Zeeshan Khan in straight sets as he won with scores of 11-4, 11-5 and 11-8, while Ismail won 3-1 against Mujahid Hussain by 11-9, 11-6, 9-11 and 11-6 in 42 minutes.

The remaining two matches in the final round of the pre-qualifiers were nail-biting encounters, as Raees Khan came back from behind to beat Saddamul Haq 3-2 in a 75-minute tussle.

It was Saddam who won the first set, but Raees took the following two sets to overturn the deficit. However, Saddam won the fourth set to take the match into the decider but Raees eventually won 5-11, 11-6, 11-7, 9-11 and 11-8.

In other match, Israr got the better of Waqar Mehboob 3-2 by scores of 11-9, 5-11, 11-7, 8-11 and 11-9.
