SIALKOT: Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) has demanded hurdle-free supply of gas to value-added textile sectors. As many as 250 industrial units are lying ideal due to prolonged non-availability of gas in Punjab. While talking to the newsmen at his Sialkot office on Thursday, PRGMEA Chairman Ejaz A Khokhar urged the government to evolve a comprehensive strategy to ensure hurdle-free supply of the country’s value added textile sector. “The value-added textile industry is not getting sufficient raw materials from the processing industry,” said the chief. He said that due to the non-availability of gas and inordinate delay in the payment of the refund claims by the government, hundreds of the small- and medium-sized industrial units are going out of business.
