The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has issued a notice for the removal of 160 police personnel accused of negligence during last year’s attack on DI Khan Central Prison.
The police officials have been dismissed based on the recommendations of an enquiry committee looking into the jailbreak.
On July 29, 2013, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan militants armed with mortars and grenades attacked the central jail. Nearly 250 prisoners, including high-profile militants, escaped after a gun battle with security forces. The militants were disguised as policemen in uniform. At least 12 people, including four policemen, were killed and seven others were wounded during the jailbreak.
The officials who have been removed from office include, former superintendent of DI Khan Central Prison, Ghulam Rabbani, ex-DPO Sohail Khalid and DSP Abdul Ghaffar. Moreover, 25 officials of the elite force and 51 police constables deputed at the jail have also been sacked, while sub-inspector Noor Aslam has been demoted to assistant sub-inspector.
The sacked officials have been told to reply to the notice within seven days.
Minor punishments have been recommended for former DIG Muhammad Ali Baba Khel, ex-deputy commissioner DI Khan Ameer Khattak and the then public relations officer Parvaiz Khattak.
Meanwhile, the government has acquitted Dera Commissioner Mushtaq Jadoon, former DSP Kifayatullah, ex-SSP Investigation Asif Jan, ex-SP Faridullah Khan and ex-DSP Kulachi Muhammad Jan.

Not only dismissal. These traitors should be put in jail for life. Many Army men were killed by the escaped prisoners.
