Helping orphans: AFI appeals for animals’ hides

Anjuman Faizul Islam (AFI) has appealed to the public to donate hides of sacrificial animals to their orphanage on Eidul Azha. AFI officials in their joint statement said the welfare organisation set up on the directives of Quaid-i-Azam has yet to be patronised by the government. The statement said AFI was established in 1943 to look after orphans of Bengal who lost their parents in the pre-partition riots. At present, AFI is helping more than 1,100 orphans in its “Apna Ghars”. They appealed to the public to donate hides to its centres at Faizabad, Trunk Bazaar, GT Road Mandra and Dobairan Kalan.
