Terror bid foiled: Rangers arrest suspects near Chesham Barrage

Over 10,000 bullets recovered from the suspect along with a number of guns of different calibers.

LAHORE: Punjab Rangers have announced the arrest of a suspected terrorist near Chesham Barrage along with a large cache of weapons and ammunition on Thursday.

Rangers officials confirmed that paramilitary personnel deployed at Chesham Barrage to check terrorist and other anti-state elements were conducting a search operation when the apprehended the suspect.

According to a Punjab Rangers official, the suspect was identified as Taj Ali, son of Jan Muhammad, and he hails from Bannu.

The weapons and ammunition recovered from the suspect include 26 pistols of 30 bore with 9,000 rounds of ammunition, 2,400 rounds of .303 Rifle, eight Kalashnikovs, and eight guns of 44 bore.

Further investigation was underway.
