Promoting peace: Interfaith dialogue need of the hour, says Ashrafi

Ashrafi said the council would organise an interfaith dialogue in the last week of November

Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) chiarman Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said on Sunday that interfaith dialogue was important for people of all faiths and minority groups.


The PUC chairman was addressing the International Interfaith Harmony Council’s Central Executive Committee meeting in Frankfurt, Germany.


He said an interfaith dialogue was the only was to end conflicts among followers of various religions. He focused on ways to strengthen the council across the world.


He said Christians had offered their homes and Churches to Muslims during the recent Gaza offensive. Many Jews had condemned the Israeli aggression against Muslims, he said.


Ashrafi said the council would organise an interfaith dialogue in the last week of November, inviting representatives from various countries. He vowed to open the council’s offices in Germany, Spain and the Netherlands. Participants agreed that inter-faith dialogue was the need of the hour.
