In time: 20kg bomb defused in Hangu

The official further said the convoy had earlier passed through the area safely and the bomb was later neutralised.

HANGU: The BDU defused a 20-kilogramme remote-controlled bomb planted by unidentified militants at a roadside in Kach Phattak, Hangu Saturday morning. Hangu DPO Anwar Saeed Kundi said around 10am they received a tip-off that an IED had been planted in the area. He added he immediately sent BDU officials to the site to defuse the bomb. Squad in charge Asadullah Khan said around 20 kg of explosives was used and if it would have exploded, the IED would have caused massive destruction. An official of the security forces said the bomb might have been planted to target a security forces convoy which included Brigadier Mudasir and Lieutenant Colonel Basit, and was heading from Peshawar to Sada, Kurram Agency. The official further said the convoy had earlier passed through the area safely and the bomb was later neutralised.
