MULTAN:

The government will repair and strengthen all river embankments, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Saturday.

The chief minister was talking to a group of flood-affected people during a visit to Multan. “Technical faults in dykes and embankments of the province will be removed,” he said.

The chief minister said that a technical committee would be constituted to review the design of all dykes and embankments.

He said that the process of distribution of financial aid among the flood victims would start from September 27. The chief minister urged the civil society and non-government organisations (NGOs) to participate in the relief efforts.
