LAHORE: Justice Mansoor Ali Shah of Lahore High Court on Thursday suspended a Health Department notification annulling a contract awarded to a company for supplying hepatitis C kits. Justice Shah issued the order during the hearing of a petition filed by the private company. The counsel for the petitioner said that the company was awarded the contract and had supplied the kits in time. The counsel said the department had cancelled the contract after some of the kits were found to be of inferior quality. The counsel said the department was awarding the contract to another company despite assurances from the petitioner regarding replacing the faulty kits. The counsel said the cancellation of the contract would disrupt the uninterrupted provision of the kits and would adversely impact patients. Justice Shah issued a stay order after hearing the arguments and sought a reply from the department by October 2.
