Improving infrastructure: CM directs officials to expedite transport schemes for Karachi

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed the provincial transport authority to bring the remaining 32 green buses on the roads within four to six weeks and also extend the route of the first fleet to Gulshan-e-Hadeed and Steel Town.


Shah ordered that of the remaining 32 buses that are part of the KMC Peoples Bus Service, 18 should be run from Sohrab Goth to Saddar while the rest from Surjani Town to Saddar.

The CM was presiding over a meeting at his office on Thursday, to review the provision of transport facilities to the people of Karachi.

Provincial minister for transport Mumtaz Jakhrani, secretary to CM Alumdin Bullo, transport secretary Taha Farooqui and other officials attended the meeting.

The chief minister expressed satisfaction with the operations of the first fleet of 36 buses from Quaidabad to Tower. He said that the success of this service could be gauged from the fact that people from different areas had started demanding to extend the services to their areas.

CM Shah asked officials to expedite work on the orange line bus corridor, which will operate from the Secondary Board office in Nazimabad to Banaras Chowrangi, Orangi Town. The Rs3 billion-service is projected to start operations by the end of this year.

The provincial transport secretary, Taha Farooqui, hoped that the remaining buses will start plying the roads by next month. He revealed that the PC-1 of the green bus service had been prepared by NESPAK Consultants and submitted to the planning and development department on Thursday.
