ISLAMABAD: Traders Action Committee Secretary Information Khalid Chaudhry has requested the government to give tax concessions to the local business community and extend the last date for filing income tax returns to facilitate entrepreneurs. He said this while addressing a meeting of representatives of various market associations. He said businesses in Islamabad are suffering since July 25, 2014. Business activities remained slow during Ramazan before the sit-ins further compounded the problems for traders, he added. Chaudhry appealed to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to direct the Federal Board of Revenue to announce a special package of tax concessions for the business community. Chaudhry said for the last two months, business activities have come to a halt and cost of doing business has increased manifold while the IESCO has sent inflated bills to traders due to which it has become very difficult to pay the electricity bills.
