Flood calamity: Relief goods dispatched to Jhang

15 trucks carrying food, medicines sent to flood victims.

Fifteen trucks carrying relief goods for flood-affected people of Jhang district were dispatched from Faisalabad on Monday.


Minister for Zakat and Ushr Malik Nadeem Kamran, MPAs Haji Khalid Saeed, Mian Tahir Jamil and DCO Noorul Amin Mengal sent the relief goods from Crescent Sports Complex, Sheikhupura Road.

The items include flour, rice, pulses, sugar, water and other food items.

Speaking on the occasion, Kamran said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had directed the district governments to take all steps to help flood-affected people.

“The government will not leave any stone unturned in helping people who have been affected by the floods,” he said.

He said that the CM had directed provincial ministers to visit flood-hit areas and supervise rescue and relief efforts.

He appreciated the efforts of the Faisalabad district administration for arranging the edibles and medicines. “The people of Faisalabad have always extended generous cooperation to help the victims of natural calamities,” he said.

MPA Haji Khalid Saeed said that the government was taking all steps to deal with the floods. “The government is carrying out a successful relief operation in various areas of the province,” he said.

“Traders, philanthropists and civil society are being contacted to collect donations for the flood-affected,” he said.

Mengal said that mobile hospitals had been dispatched from Faisalabad to Jhang.

“More trucks carrying edibles and medicines will be dispatched to the affected-areas in the coming days,” he said.

He said that centres had been set up in the city to collect donations.
