FAISALABAD:

Police arrested three members of a robbers’ gang on Friday and seized stolen vehicles and weapons from them.

Sandal Bar SHO Inspector Abdul Majeed Station House Officer (SHO) told The Express Tribune on Saturday that Jaffar alias Shero, a resident of Chak 47-JB, was leading a gang of robbers, involved in snatching cars and tractor-trolleys from Faisalabad and adjoining districts.

“The Shero gang was wanted by Sandal Bar police in seven cases of vehicle snatching. On Friday, we raided a hideout in Mundranwala near Gujranwala on receiving a tip-off.

We arrested Jaffar Shero and his two accomplices, Liaqat alias Pump Action, a resident of Chak 47-RB, and Yasir alias Yasri, a resident of Pindi Bhattian,” the SHO said.

“During preliminary investigation, police have come to know that the Shero gang sold the stolen vehicles to Zafar, a resident of Hafizabad. Zafar then changed the engine and chassis numbers and made fake registration papers for the vehicles. These vehicles were then sold the people,” Majeed said.

“We found five tractor-trolleys, a Honda City car, two motorcycles, eight mobile phones, a shot gun, two pistols from their hideout, the SHO said.

Faisalabad City Police Officer (CPO) Dr Sohail Habib Tajik has announced cash prizes and appreciation letters for the police team.
