Road accident: 13 feared dead near Muzaffarabad

At least 13 people are feared dead and four others injured in a road mishap in Sudhanati district, some 190 kilometres from Muzaffarabad.


According to the police, a passenger jeep was on its way from Baythak to Chitramera tehsil of Sudhanati district when it was swept away by the currents of a flooding stream near Merapulli.

Local residents managed to rescue only four of the passengers, who were taken to the nearest hospital. Thirteen passengers are still missing and are feared dead.

The police said the stream is still flooded and due to the darkness, they are unable to find the wreckage of the vehicle. Civil administration and police officials are in the area, searching for the deceased. No bodies were recovered till the filing of this report.
