Sectarian Harmony: Tolerance needed for stability says BZU VC

Dr Ghulam Shamsur Rehman said that 30 teachers from various seminaries were attending the course.

MULTAN: Inter-sect harmony is badly needed in our country to promote peace and stability, Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) Acting Vice Chancellor Dr Shabbar Attiq said on Tuesday. He was addressing the participants of a six-week course organised by the Department of Islamic Studies. “Difference of opinion broadens minds and prevents a society from intellectual stagnation,” he said. He said that the course would improve the understanding between faculty members of the university and religious seminaries. Addressing the ceremony, BZU Islamic Studies Department head Dr Saeedur Rehman said that they would continue to arrange such programmes to promote religious learning. Dr Ghulam Shamsur Rehman said that 30 teachers from various seminaries were attending the course.
