Pakistan slump to 20-0 defeat against Thailand

U18 baseball team next faces Chinese Taipei in Asian event.

Pakistan received a 20-0 thrashing at the hands of hosts Thailand on the opening day of the 10th Asian U18 Baseball Championship in Pathum Thanion Monday.


The team, led by Mohammad Mohsin Jamil, will next face against Chinese Taipei on Tuesday before their last encounter with South Korea the following day.

Pakistan have been placed in Group-II along with South Korea, Chinese Taipei and Thailand while Japan, Philippines, Sri Lanka and China comprise Group-I.

In the other matches, South Korea defeated Chinese Taipei 9-1, Sri Lanka lost to China 0-5 and Japan downed Philippines 11-0 in the last match of the day.

The Asian U18 Baseball Championship, organised by the Baseball Federation of Asia and held after every two years since 1994, is open to players aged 18 and under.

South Korea and defending champions Japan have won three gold medals each, while Pakistan have failed to take the title home to date.
