QUETTA:

Three persons, including a man and his son, were gunned down on Friday near Irrigation Colony on Sariab Road. Both father and son were inside a butcher shop when gunmen opened fire at them.  “A shopper was also killed in the firing incident,” said Imran Qureshi, a senior police official of Sariab.

According to sources, the bodies were shifted to the Provincial Sandeman Hospital in Quetta for autopsies. The gunmen managed to escape from the scene despite the presence of a huge crowd at the time of the attack.

“There are several butcher shops in the area. However, we have reason to believe that this particular shop was targeted,” Qureshi said. “We don’t know who is responsible for the killings at this stage,” he added.

The deceased have been identified as Abdul Kareem and his son Akhtar Kakar and shopper Boor Muhammad. All the victims were residents of Quetta.

The bodies were handed over to their heirs after medico-legal formalities. Police have registered a case and opened investigation into the incident.
